My governor just vetoed the State Legislature’s attempt to exempt themselves from the Public Records Act. The Democratic Caucus also said, “Whoops, we fucked up.”
And a number of reps on both sides of the aisle have reconsidered their votes, and sent letters to Inslee asking for a veto.
This...this is democracy at work, people.
Not the bullshit you see in the Other Washington.

That’s an absolutely absurd bill — and shame on whoever came up with it and voted for it.
Those people should be voted out of office - IDGAF what party they’re from.

See, that’s the good part about our state’s democracy: When blowback happens, the politicians
sit the fuck up and pays attention.
Instead of ignoring it like Shit Pie at the FCC, and McConnell in Congress.

At the Federal level, too many Congresspeople are far too entrenched - they don’t face much risk of losing in their own district (no matter how bad/crazy you or I may think they are), and they just spend their time making their donors happy and finding ways to entrench themselves even further.
Sounds like that’s not such an issue in WA - -but it’s just as bad (or worse) here in IL.

Right. And we all know that it’s going to be impossible to improve the model Congress operates off of without having the Supreme Court shit down the throats of states that have been engaging in partisan gerrymandering.

Nice to see WA operates with some logic now and then (which might be why it ranks so high and is such a magnet for people right now). I can see some states going through with this, or even dumber ideas.
